Creators on Threads Can Now Add 5 Links and Monitor Clicks

Instagram’s Threads is competing with “link-in-bio” options by offering a way for creators to use their Threads profile to share links to other interests and online presences. When it’s first available, the feature will let you add up to five links to a bio. These links can connect visitors to the creator’s blog, newsletter, website, or other social profiles. Also, creators will have new tools to see how well those links perform.

The social app owned by Meta, which now has over 350 million monthly active users, is presenting the feature as an option for users who prefer it to its competitor, X.

However, Threads’ ability to direct users to a variety of other social and web profiles through links found in a creator’s bio could reduce the popularity of services like Linktree, Beacons, Linkin.bio, and Koji. These services allow creators to build a landing page for multiple links. These services were created because social media apps only allowed you to add one link to your bio. Creators needed a way to send their fans to all the other online content they published, including posts on other social networks, their own websites, and their own stores.

With the update, Threads will give creators information that lets them see how many people have visited the links in their profile and any links shared in their posts.

The company explained that the idea is to make Threads a place where creators can grow their reach, even if that means helping creators promote a presence that’s outside Meta’s app.

Meta says it will soon launch a weekly recap feature for Insights. This feature will offer a summarized snapshot of the past week. It will include a week-over-week comparison of the number of posts shared, total views, new follower counts, and replies on posts. These recaps will also include other personalized tips to help creators learn how to better engage their community.
